DAY #64 - MUD HOLE TO TRAFTON ISLAND, MAINE

SEPTEMBER 13, 2007

After waiting for the tide to rise, we floated out over the ledges at the entrance of the Mud Hole and sailed West to Trafton Island in Narragaugus Bay.

Trafton is said to have been a favorite of yachtsmen for generations, however, the island is private and the owners are not generous enough to share any part of the large island with the public so you can not go ashore. The anchorage is oriented towards the Northwest so you have good views of the sunset while being protected from the prevailing Southwest winds.
