SEPTEMBER 29TH, 2008
Time to make tracks south. We rose early and were rewarded with a pretty sunrise over the water as we set out.
The leaves which were turning color added to the picturesque morning.
Time to go to work for some of us.
The winds were calm, however, the rollers formed by the distant hurricane were pounding the shore.
This horse farm was on an island that we passed on the way to Portland for fuel.
What stories can this boat tell?
Ft. Gorges - Civil War fort at the entrance to Portland Harbor.
Liquid Gold
Docking in order to off load fuel.
Lighthouses outside Portland Harbor.
Lighthouses on Cape Elizabeth (just southeast of Portland).
The seas were still up as we approached Isles of Shoals.
Old hotel (now a private conference center) on Star Island.
Lobsterman's summer residence.
Isle of Shoals lighthouse.
Only two other cruising boats were found in the Isle of Shoals harbor this late in the season.
