DAY #22 - SHELBURNE, NOVA SCOTIA

AUGUST 7TH, 2008

Shelburne was founded by British Loyalists after the American war of independence. Fishing and ship building sustained it until the decline of the fishing industry in recent years. Currently the local economy is in poor shape and most young people have to move away to get jobs.

Due to customs regulations we came to Canada with no fresh meat or vegetables and no alcohol to speak of. So the day was spent obtaining Canadian money and going to the stores to replenish our supplies. Some local cruisers were kind enough to give us a lift to the stores.
