We had plans to wait for a predicted favorable wind shift that would facilitate our traveling westward in Long Island Sound. It was supposed to happen around noon but when we awoke before sunrise the wind had already shifted. So we slipped our mooring line and headed west on the sound riding both tide and wind.
We made it all the way to West Bay (next to Oyster Bay) on Long Island. This put us within 15 miles of New York City which would allow us to ride the tide through the city tomorrow morning.
