CAPE MAY, N.J. TO ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N. J.

DAY #6 - JULY 18TH, 2009

We headed out relatively early for Atlantic City. After charging the batteries (by running the engine) we had a wonderful sail to Atlantic City. In fact we got there so early (noon), and the sailing was so nice, that we decided to pass right by it and continue on to Atlantic Highlands. Well, wouldn't you know it that shortly thereafter the wind became variable and we had to motor the rest of the way. Got in at 02:30am.

We thought these condos (?) at Sandy Hook were rather interesting because they were constructed in such a way as to match with the back ground colors.

Just found your wonderful online journal looking for fishing info for Norwood Cove, Me. I live near Atlantic Highlands and ironically have ventured to Mt. Desert Island annually for the last quarter century!~ To say I am envious of your lifestyle is an understatement.

Anyway, those are not condos in the picture from Sandy Hook. They are deserted officers' homes from the now only partly operational military base called Fort Hancock. Very historic area.

Tie up at the Inlet Cafe in Highlands next trip and tell them Jason the Bartender sent you (via his mom, the Maine-iac).

Safe journeys! Heading downeast via auto in a few weeks....
