DAY #97 - BREAKWATER HARBOR TO VEASEY COVE, BOHEMIA RIVER

OCTOBER 16, 2007

Once again we got up in the early morning darkness and double checked all the weather conditions and predictions. It is told that Delaware Bay can be very nasty if the conditions are not just right.

Everything seemed to be a "go" so we hauled our anchor an hour before low water and set off up the Bay in the darkness. Due to all the ships and barges we hugged the channel edges until the sun came up. We finally rode the tide up the Delaware Bay and when we turned down the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal we were able to ride the ebbing current down to the Bohemia River in the upper Chesapeake Bay.

Boy are we glad to have safely made it back to our home waters! Time to celebrate.

DAY #96 - RUM COVE TO BREAKWATER HARBOR, CAPE HENLOPEN

OCTOBER 15, 2007

We woke to a hazy sunny day with variable winds.

So we motored the rest of the way down the Jersey coast to Breakwater Harbor behind Cape Henlopen. It is easy to get in and out of Breakwater Harbor and it is usually fairly settled in there. Since, in the morning, we will have to leave in the dark we didn't want any complications.
