DAY #63 - MUD HOLE, GREAT WASS ISLAND, MAINE

SEPTEMBER 12, 2007

Today we went ashore and spent the day walking the miles of trails of the Great Wass Island Preserve.

We walked the rocky shore of Eastern Bay, through deep moss-floored spruce and fir forests, across bogs, and along open ledges overlooking the bogs and the surrounding landscape. We crossed many streams running over the rocks and towards the shore after yesterdays rain.

Since it was late in the day and the ledge was blocking our departure we stayed another night.
