DAY #85 - CAPE MAY, NJ TO BOHEMIA RIVER (UPPER CHESAPEAKE BAY)

OCTOBER 9TH, 2008

It seemed that the Coast Guard kept their recruits up half the night marching and carrying on. So needless to say we were also up early.

Many of the boats waiting to go up the Delaware Bay anchor along the channel in Cape May.

Since our mast height was less than 50 feet we were able to pass through the Cape May Canal which saved several hours and many miles.

The railroad swing bridge stands open during the off season.

Some of the trees are changing color.

Approaching the northern end of the canal where it enters Delaware Bay. This is where the ferry terminal can be found for the ferry that crosses the mouth of the bay.

We passed many barges and the nuclear power plant.

Delaware Bay and the C & D Canal are major shipping routes.

The sun was setting as we motored through the C & D Canal.
